Ayurveda - Treatments

There are four main categories of management of disease in Ayurveda:

• Shodan, or cleansing;
• Shaman or palliation;
• Rasayana, or rejuvenation;
• Satvajaya or mental hygiene.
  

The fundamental truth of treatment is that Ayurveda central point is to bring back the normalcy of functions of systems by distinctive methods. Changing the condition through different steps and there by establish the state of physical balance of doshas (humors). Treatment is directed to perform a well-planned re-arrangement in the subtle plan according to Ayurveda.

In Ayurveda, There are eight divisions of treatments.

• Kaya Chikitsa (General treatment)
• Bala Chikitsa (Pediatrics)
• Urndhanga Chikitsa (ENT & eye diseases treatment),
• Grahachikitsa (Psychiatry),
• Salya Chikitsa (Surgical procedures),
• Visha Chikitsa (Toxicology),
• Rasayana Chikitsa (Geriatrics).
• Vajeekarana Chikitsa (Aphrodisiac treatment).

The treatment mainly comprises of powders, tablets, decoctions, medicated oils etc. prepared from natural herbs, plants and minerals. Because the medicines are from natural sources and not synthetic, they are very easily accepted in the body without creating any adverse effects and on the other hand, there may be some side benefits.Along with medicine, proper diet, work out and life style is also advised. This is also equally important. If we are going through Ayurveda process for treatment we have to follow the guidelines of treatment.
